All Souls Day

In the tradition I grew up this day is a holyday, we think of the people, who are dead. We make up her graves with flowers and especially with lights. My whole life I liked cemeteries. I visited my grandmother's grave and had so nice konversations with her. I don't believe in death!
This morning in the dawn - I am an early bird - I tried to make a cemetery-scene in my flower-pot on my balcony.

  2. Thank you, Rebecca! I've never heard to say "Happy All Souls Day! in Germany, it's very interesting for me.
When I was young, the radio stations only broadcasts classical-music and not beatles or stones, the pubs are closed until the evening and it wasn't allowed to play rockmusic there too. In the tv there was only serious program, no comedy or shows.
I think the young people today cannot imagine this. I miss that the holidays aren't different to the normal days now, allthoug I can celebrate like I want - it's about the mood. Hope one can understand what I mean.

  3. Lovely scene! Even though the two pictures show the same scene, the large one has such a nice tranquil mood and beautiful light. You have really become a great photographer!

  4. All Souls Day is (was) my grandmother's birthday, and she always felt blessed to be born on this day. She lived until 95, so I believe she was a lucky angel. Thanks for sharing this lovely scene.

  5. Hi Pubdoll, thank you so much for your nice compliment, I'm honored! I never use a flashlight for my fotographs except I forget to switch it out on my camera - so the small foto happened. there you can see that I used some led-lamps for a key-holder.

  7. Oese, saying "Happy All Souls Day" is not traditional in Australia either. My sister posted it on facebook - so many people celebrate Halloween with its witches and pumpkins and so on (though this is not traditional in Australia either, until recently, it's come from America), and forget or just don't know that it's All Hallows' Eve, and is followed by All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. So we started saying "Happy All Souls Day" to remember people who've died. We also had a beloved grandmother, who died 6 years ago aged 98 - and other grandparents and relations as well.
