Ricard

Wieder mal schöne Erinnerungen aus meiner Kindheit .... Urlaub in Südfrankreich .... die Männer trinken Ricard und gießen ihn mit Wasser auf - aus so einer gelben Karaffe. Wir hatten bestimmt auch mal so eine zuhause. Wer konnte ahnen, dass das mal Kultobjekte werden. Ich wollte sie unbedingt haben und hatte auch Glück mit dem Preis. Heute kam die Karaffe und noch zwei Tassen dazu.
Once again nice childhood-memories ... vacances in cannes, france, riviera .... the men drunk ricard with water - and the water was in this yellow carafe. I guess my parents had one too in their home, who could know it'd be such a cool thing now. I wanted it so much and I was lucky with the price. Today the pitcher arrives plus two cups.

Und hier ist der Grund, warum ich es dann doch gekauft habe, all meine Versuche, so ein Ding selbst zu machen, schlugen fehl. Zuerst mit Fimo, das ging schief, dann wollte ich logisch vorgehen und hab den Aufbau studiert. Auch ein Fiasko. Aber ich habe es wenigstens versucht!
And this is the reason why I had to buy it.I tried hard to make one of myself, first with fimo, then I made studies about the build up. But I failed totally. But at least I tried!

Echat Staim Shalosh - Ein Haus am See

Heute ist meine Kamera kaputtgegangen!
Ausgerechnet dann, als ich endlich mal mein Glashaus eingepackt und in den Park gegangen bin, um es am Wasser zu fotografieren.
Today my camera got broken!
And this on a day, when I finally put my glashouse on my bike and went to the park for fotos of the house on the lakeside.

Einige Fotos konnte ich machen, aber dann ging nur noch so was:

Voll ärgerlich! Es war das perfekte Licht, gerade ging die Sonne unter und so schöne Spiegelungen im Wasser. Ich hatte auch genug Batterien mit. Grmmpf!
It was so annoying! Perfect light, the sun set and light reflexions on the water - I had enough batteries.... grmmpf!!!

Diese Kamera ist schon einmal kaputtgegangen, als es grad doof war, am ersten Urlaubstag in Polen. Danach lag sie monatelang in der Schublade, ich habe mir eine neue gekauft, aber konnte mich von dieser nicht trennen. Als Uri Geller mal wieder im Fernsehen auftrat, habe ich mir den Spaß gemacht und die kaputte Kamera (das Display fuhr einfach nicht mehr hoch) in die Hand genommen und "Echat-Staim-Shalosh" gesagt, drei mal. Irgendwie glaube ich an so was und irgendwie auch nicht. Zwei Seelen ach in meiner Brust. Natürlich tat sich gar nichts, aber als ich Batterien einlegte, ging sie tatsächlich wieder an. Wow! Allen habe ich es erzählt, aber jeder hat natürlich geglaubt, die war gar nicht kaputt. Nur mein Sohn, der die Kamera gründlich untersucht hatte, war doch ziemlich beeindruckt.
Nun werde ich wohl mit der Ersatzkamera fotografieren, aber sie ist nicht so gut wie diese. Ich werde sie auch nicht wegwerfen. Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt. So heißt auch der Film, den ich gerade gucke.
The camera was broken one day when I was in vacances in Poland. I bought a new one and put the broke one in the drawer. When Uri Geller was in German TV I took this camera in my hand with "Echat Staim Shalosh" three times and in fact it works afterwards. I believe in such things and I don't believe in such things - both. Such is life.

"Sie" setzte sich nun doch durch mit dem geblümten Sofa. Es sind einige Möbel dazugekommen, besonders aber ein paar Teile der Ministuhlsammlung und der Hello-Kitty-Sammlung von ihr. Sie hat schon einmal den Frühstückstisch gedeckt, damit er nicht allzu sauer ist, denn das Sofa ist nicht so sein Fall.
"She" brought the Sofa and a few other furnitures into the room, and a few pieces of her mini-collection (chairs and hello-kitty). She don't wanted him to become angry and prepaired the table for a nice breakfast in the morning. She knew the sofa was not his cup of tea.

Sie mag das bunte Bild, eines seiner Erstlingswerke, und hat damit dem Raum noch mehr Farbigkeit verliehen.
She likes the colourful art, one of his early paintings, it makes the room more colourful.

Tapete - Wallpaper

Eigentlich wolle ich nur Pinselreiniger kaufen, aber dann lachte mich diese Tapete an. Von einer aufgerissenen Rolle hat mir ein Verkäufer ein Stückchen abgeschnitten und überlassen. Danke!
Actually I only wanted to buy brush-cleaner, but this wallpaper says "buy me". I got a small piece as a gift, thank you nice guy in the shop!

Die Tapete ist so toll, ich wüsste gar nicht, was für ein Bild ich da aufhängen sollte. Eigentlich wollte ich ja auch nur die Tapete zeigen, aber....

... es ist nun ein Zimmer geworden, was ein bisschen so wirkt, als seien grad zwei Leute zusammengezogen und müssen sich möbeltechnisch erst noch zusammenraufen. Er malt und mag's schlicht, sie steht mehr auf Blümchen und Kokkolores. Ach, das wird schon.

Das Regal habe ich aus Lego gemacht, gefüllt ist es überwiegend mit Parfümstöpseln.

So führt eins zum anderen - one thing leads to another

In unserer Stadt ist ein großes Karstadt-Haus geschlossen worden, eins von vieren. Ich bin froh, dass nun alles wieder in einem Haus zu haben ist und die Abteilungen dicht beieinander sind. Dass nun in dem geräumten Gebäude eine Riesenfläche für Billigläden entstanden ist, ist natürlich deprimierend. Dennoch konnte ich nicht widerstehen, nach Handyschmuck zu schauen - da findet sich selten etwas, aber wenn, dann etwas sehr Schönes. So wie dieses kleine Handy, mein Liebling:
In our town a big and famous warehouse has closed one of his four shops. I'm glad to have all in one house now, but that in the empty building a huge bargain-shop is settled, is very depressiving imo. such a sad feeling in a town. but I couldn't resist looking for some cellphone-jewellery, sometimes I find very nice things like this sweet mobile. I love it.

Bei den billigen Sachen ist es auch leicht, die Metallschlaufen abzuzwicken, das geht bei echtem Schmuck nur sehr schwer.
When the things are very cheap it is easy to remove the metal eyelets, with real jewellery this is nearly impossible.

Ich wollte zwar eigentlich nur das Handy fotografieren, aber es braucht doch ein Ambiente und so zeige ich noch meinen neuen Lampenständer für unter 1 Euro, das Tischset ist auch neu, die Marzipandose braucht noch gute Füße und der Fernsehtisch ist aus Lego.
Außerdem kommt schon wieder ein Brillenetui zum Einsatz.
I actually only want to take fotos of the mobily, but it needs a surrounding. So I show the new lampstand of my favourite drugstore for less than 1 euro, a placemat and the tinbox for the almond paste-sweeties needs legs. the tv-stand is lego. And again an eyeglass-case.

Peinlich, aber wahr: Das habe ich im Billigladen auch noch gesehen und mitgenommen. Bei Annina hatte ich gesehen, wie toll sie ihr Waschbecken gestrichen hat. Ich will es bei diesen Möbeln auch so gut hinkriegen wie sie.
Embarrassing but true: I saw this in the bargain-shop and took it! I saw on Anninas fotos a good looking painted basin and I hope to be as successfull with painting this items too.

Es ist etwas kleiner als Lundby, aber noch nicht 1:24. Billig aus China! Eigentlich bin ich dagegen, aber.... nächstes Wochenende ist Messe, da gebe ich lieber mein Geld aus.

So, das erste Teil ist schon umgewandelt und mit Stoff bezogen.

Update: Heute habe ich an einem misslungenen Versuch für ein Häuschen die weiße Farbe ausprobiert. Und ich habe noch etwas gekauft, ein zweites Brillenetui für 1 Euro. Was ist noch anders?
Today I tried the white colour on a house I failed. And I bougth a second glasses case for 1 Euro. Spot the other differences!

Heute hat meine Cousine Geburtstag. Ich habe sie leider telefonisch nicht erreicht. Aber es ist auch zu blöd, an seinem Geburtstag immer so viele Anrufe entgegenzunehmen. Ich spreche sie lieber ein anderes Mal. Dafür habe ich ihr ein Geburtstagszimmer gemacht, so wie es aussehen könnte, wenn die Familie bald kommt.
Today is my cousin's birthday. I didn't get her on the telephone, but we all think it is silly to talk with so many people at the telephone while having guests. So I'll have a nice chat with her another day. Instead I made a room for her, like a room before the guests arrived on a party.

Ich habe am Wochenende erst mit Neomi über Familienfeste gesprochen. Bei uns ist es sehr selten, dass sich ein großer Kreis trifft. Als unsere Großeltern noch lebten und wir Kinder waren, gab es diese großen Feste, heute wird in kleinerem Kreis gefeiert.
I talked with Neomi at the weekend about the big familiy-meetings. For us it is very very seldom to meet the whole family, we have small parties only. When our grandparents was alive and we were children we had such big meetings.

Heute nach der Arbeit war ich gar nicht müde und da es noch so lange hell ist, bin ich ein bisschen mit dem Fahrrad durch die Gegend gefahren, im Dortmunder Norden, wo viele Ausländer wohnen und es bunter und lebendiger ist als in der Innenstadt. Mir war auch nach Farbe zumute und ich fand ein schönes Brillenetui und Platzdeckchen.
Today after work I wasn't tired and went with my bicyle through the part of our town, where many foreigners live, it is so lively and colourful there. I felt like colours too and bought an eyeglass-case and a placemat.

Die Idee mit dem Tischset im Fenster habe ich von Callsmall geklaut. Das Ding hatte ich schon lange, aber hatte noch keine schöne Verwendung dafür.

Meine Leidenschaft - My passion

Ich war nun vier Wochen zuhause wegen der Aufs und Abs mit den Medikamenten. Ich bin froh, dass sich etwas bewegt, aber auf den seelischen Muskelkater könnte ich auch verzichten. Ich habe viel gebastelt in der Zeit und werde - wenn ich dazu komme - auch noch mehr von diesen Designerpuppenhäusern machen und zum Verkauf anbieten in meinem neuen Da Wanda-Shop.
Am Montag gehe ich wieder arbeiten.

Ich bin sehr unsicher, ob ich das Haus weiß streichen (innen und außen oder nur außen) oder so lassen soll. Was meint ihr?
I'm not sure if I should paint the house white (inside and outside or only outside?) or not. What do you think?

I stayed at home for four weeks because of the ups and downs with the new medicine. I'm glad to see that something (and so much) happened to me now, but I'd like to see this without the bad impacts. But they leads to health I'm sure. In this four weeks I made many items of myself and I'd like to make more of this little designer dollshouses for my new Da Wanda shop (like Etsy).
On monday I'll return to my work.

Noch mehr kleine Häuser - Some more small houses

Hier ist noch ein weiterer Papp-Prototyp von einem Puppenhaus, das sicher auch die meisten Enthusiasten erkennen. Es ist angelehnt an ein Haus von Wes Christensen und eines meiner Lieblingshäuser.
This is another prototype from cardboard I made for a dollshouse like the one of Wes Christensen. I think most of the dollshouse-enthusiasts will know him. I love his work and this is one of my favourite dollshouses.

Hier sind meine neuen Legosteine zu sehen, die vielfältige Möglichkeiten für Möbel bieten. Ich fürchte, ich habe viel zu wenige bestellt (eigentlich wollte ich ja nur eine Treppe machen können). Das kleine Tomy Haus habe ich bei ebay.uk bekommen - mit den passenden Möbelchen - Maßstab 1:16.
My new lego-bricks, I ordered them online on pick a brick. There are so many possibilities, I think I bought not enough bricks. The little Tomy sylvanian house is an ebay.uk-find - with the matching furniture in 1:16.

Hier noch einmal die 1:16 Villa Sibi und ein Sessel, den ich aus Balsaholz gemacht habe. Den Pappkameraden hatte ich ja schon gezeigt.
Once again the 1:16 villa sibi and an armchair from balsa-wood. I showed the cardboard-prototype before.

Es wird bestimmt schwer, diese kleinen Fenster mit Sprossen aus dem weichen Holz zu bauen. Mal sehn, wie ich es mache.
I think it'll be tricky to make these tiny windows with the balsa-wood, we will see.

Die Villa Eichhorn habe ich mal wieder nach meinen Bedürfnissen mit Bilderrahmen und Bauklötzen umgebaut. Die Fliesen auf der Fensterbank sind übrigens auch von Lego.

I reshaped the villa eichhorn with frames and blocks. The tiles on the windowsill are lego too.

ELF + MIAIM bei euromaxx (Television of Deutsche Welle)

Euromaxx, ein Magazin von Deutsche Welle-TV hat nun auch einen kleinen, aber feinen Beitrag über Miniaturen gesendet. Sie hatten mich auch kontaktiert, dann aber doch den Weg nach England genommen, der Beitrag sollte wohl mehr auf teure Designer-Miniaturen abzielen als auf Selbstgebasteltes und Zweckentfremdetes. Ich bin ganz froh, dass ich nicht fürs Fernsehteam aufräumen musste ;-) und auch froh, dass das deutsche Magazin 1:12 Erwähnung fand. Vielleicht erweitert sich der deutsche Interessentenkreis ja doch noch.

Euromaxx, a european tv-magazin of "Deutsche Welle" broadcasted a short but nice article about modern miniatures. They contacted me too before, but then obviously decided to focus on expensive designer-miniatures and not on DIY or repurposed items. I'm glad I hadn't to clean my flat for the tv-crew and I'm glad the german magazin 1:12 was part of the article - so I'm hopeful the market in germany will grow.
